Project Application
Bamboo Biomass to Activated Carbon
A bamboo biomass project that converts bamboo chips, bamboo residues and prepared bamboo material into biomass charcoal and activated carbon for negative electrode materials, filtration media and adsorption applications.
Feedstock
Bamboo chips and residues
Process
Carbonization and activation
Products
Biochar and activated carbon

Project Background
Turning Bamboo Resources Into Higher-Value Carbon Products
Bamboo grows quickly and creates large amounts of processing residue in bamboo flooring, furniture, panel and craft product industries. Through controlled preparation, carbonization and activation, bamboo biomass can be upgraded from a low-value residue into porous carbon materials for energy storage, filtration and adsorption markets.
Raw Material Advantage
Bamboo has a strong fiber structure and good carbon yield potential, making it suitable for biomass charcoal and activated carbon processing after controlled drying and sizing.
Processing Goal
The project builds a route from bamboo preparation to carbonization, activation, cooling, crushing, screening and packing for different carbon product grades.
Product Direction
Finished material can be positioned for negative electrode material pretreatment, filtration media, deodorization, water treatment and industrial adsorption applications.
Product Directions
Activated Carbon Product Applications
- Negative electrode material pretreatment and carbon material processing.
- Water treatment, air purification and industrial filtration media.
- Adsorption applications for odor control, solvent recovery and environmental systems.
- Powder or granular carbon grades based on downstream process requirements.
- Value-added utilization of bamboo processing residues and renewable biomass resources.
